I have always loved and been fascinated by dance and started learning to dance at seventeen when I joined a small dancing school in Sussex. I reached gold standard in Ballroom and Latin.

I then moved to a bigger school in Eastbourne and took the rest of my amateur medals there. Most of the amateur medals I have also taken as the man, which is obviously needed in a teaching capacity.

I have been a teaching assistant at both children’s and adult classes and qualified as a teacher twenty years ago when I was seven months pregnant! I have been teaching on and off ever since. Whilst still retaining a love of dance, being a foster mother and other things (known as life!) got in the way, but after coming back to dance with a vengeance four years ago, I’ve realized what I missed.

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ has brought dance back into fashion again and many more people want to get involved. Dance is a way of forgetting your normal routine and concerns of the day and thinking about something else whilst having a good time and learning a new skill.

I am qualified in both the UKA and IDTA associations and have a CRB certificate
